Engaging with nature and observing our relationship with the landscape around us has been a common theme in painting since Romanticism. Expanding Landscapes follows several romantic motifs such as earth, sea and sky through a variety of materials and processes including the use of earth pigment from specific locations. Don’t miss Andy Goldsworthy’s Blencathra Mountain, Cumbria, 19 February 1988, the heart of the exhibition and a work that echoes Romantic era painting through natural materials and photography.
