RIBBON International with the support of ФОРМА (FORMA) presents a major site-specific installation by artist and activist Ai Weiwei, marking it his first commission in Ukraine.
On view from September 14 to November 30, 2025, the work is set to be unveiled inside the newly renovated cultural venue of Pavilion 13 in Kyiv. Entitled Three Perfectly Proportioned Spheres and Camouflage Uniforms Painted White, the piece is composed of three spheres, originally entitled Divina Proportione, which were inspired by Leonardo da Vinci’s illustrations by the same name. Each sphere will vary in size and be covered in painted camouflage uniforms and secured together with buttons.
“The camouflage uniforms enveloping the spheres are painted white, creating the image of three interconnected white spheres resembling a large white bone,” Ai states. “Beneath this surface lies a deeper meaning, reflecting the history of civilisation’s development, our collective memories, and the tragic reality that has become widely accepted and continues to unfold in the world today.”
RIBBON International is a non-profit cultural platform supporting historic and contemporary Ukrainian arts and culture in the form of exhibitions, artist commissions, public programs and grants.
