RugLife opens this October at its third venue the Weisman Art Museum at the University of Minnesota.
RugLife features works by contemporary artists using rugs as an inventive medium to address a range of cultural topics. The classic rug form is reimagined from the woven yarns we might expect to surprising materials such as cardboard, video, hair combs, collage, and plastic furniture. The medium offers artists and designers from around the globe to take on cultural, environmental, poltical topics and more within the framework of a decorative object turned art object. Ai Weiwei's rug in collaboration with WWF-UK, Tyger (2022), will be on display.
