Edge: Where the Land Meets the Sea
Hastings Contemporary, Hastings, UK
September 26, 2026 - January 3, 2027

Opening at the end of September, Edge: Where the Land Meets the Sea is a major exhibition exploring the fundamental connection between land and sea. The exhibition challenges conventional ideas of separation and presents the coastline as a dynamic zone of exchange, where rivers, soils and oceans converge. Inspired by Hastings Contemporary’s location on a shingle beach, Edge marks the first of two landmark exhibitions supporting their mission to focus its exhibitions and programming on ocean sustainability. Through painting, photography, film, sculpture and installation, Edge invites viewers to explore these often unseen connections, bringing together more than 40 works from artists. Andy Goldsworthy's Rockweed. Cold Water. Crabs. Compass Harbor, Mount Desert Island, Maine. 27 August 2023 (2023) and David Nash's Wooden Boulder in Salt Marsh (2003) are on view in the exhibition.
