The ArtCenter College of Design's Graduate Art MFA program is pleased to announce the celebration of their 40th anniversary with a special edition of Fall Graduate Seminar Lecture Series, organized by Jan Tumlir and Jack Bankowsky.
Won Ju Lim will be a guest lecturer for the series on October 6, 2026. Lim received her MFA from the ArtCenter College of Design. Her work examines the dialogue between real and imaginary space as they relate to fantasy, memory, and longing. Her multimedia practice draws from sources ranging from Baroque architecture, objects of design, fantasy and science fiction films, the urban landscape of Los Angeles, the invisible and contested spaces within her own home, and in her latest body of work, the works of French writer Marcel Proust. Proust’s influence reveals itself in both Lim's artistic approach and the formal qualities of her work, evident in her interest in the peripheral, questions of dislocation and self-alienation, and the dialectics of inside and outside.
The ArtCenter’s Graduate Seminar lecture series is a forum for graduate students, members of the ArtCenter community and the general public to enter into dialogue with internationally recognized artists, critics, and art historians. The lecture takes place at 7 PM and is open to the public.
