Tammam Azzam
Solo Exhibition and Artist Talk

Tammam Azzam: A Horizon Remains
Goethe-Institut, New York, NY
September 16 - December 3, 2026

Tammam Azzam's first solo exhibition is now open at the Goethe-Institut in New York. A Horizon Remains brings together a range of paintings, collages, and works on paper thematically centered on the landscapes of a city. Through his paintings, Azzam reimagines the city landscape, its urban forms grow, recede, and gradually open onto expansive terrains and distant horizons over richly layered compositions.

Tammam Azzam is a Syrian-German artist whose multidisciplinary practice spans painting, collage, sculpture, installation, and works on paper. Born in Damascus in 1980, he studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts at Damascus University before relocating to Germany, where he has lived and worked since 2016. His work examines the city, landscape, and the built environment, exploring the ways architecture, memory, and history are continually transformed through painting and image-making. Azzam has exhibited internationally at institutions and biennials across Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and North America, and his works are held in numerous public and private collections.

Join Tammam Azzam and Curator Saria AlMidani in conversation on September 17th from 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM at the Goethe-Institut. Together they will dicuss the developments and influences in A Horizon Remains. The talk is free and open to the public. Register for your spot through the link below.
