FotoFest has recently unveiled exciting new plans for a visual journey through its landmark international biennials’ themes, exhibitions, and principal programs. The Biennial 2026 exhibition Global Visions – FotoFest at 40 celebrates four decades of groundbreaking photographic arts and education programming in Houston, Texas with an unforgettable showcase of creative discovery and thought-provoking innovation from the United States and over 58 countries. Artists Adrain Burrell and David Maisel will be on display in the exhibition.
Curated by FotoFest co-founder and former artistic director Wendy Watriss, the central exhibition of the Biennial 2026 dives deeply into the international and local archives of FotoFest’s 40-year legacy. It reconstitutes the organization’s widely praised exhibitions, publications, and citywide photo and mixed-media presentations that have defined the organization’s pioneering history. The result is a bold, timely, and textured presentation featuring hundreds of artists whose work has shaped FotoFest into a global focal point for photography and visual culture since its first Biennial in 1986.
